Marketing Your Accounting Practice Using YouTube Video
One of the most overlooked marketing tactics for accountants is video marketing. With today’s advancements in technology and increased usage of the internet, video marketing is great for marketing your accounting practice online. And, it’s not expensive either.
Video marketing for small businesses is much easier than the olden days because development, editing and hosting of video are inexpensive. Filming with today’s endless array of cameras and do-it-yourself editing tools eliminate the need for costly production studios. And hosting is free of charge with YouTube. I fully recognize that it takes some thought and time to produce a persuasive video but the out-of-pocket cost is very cheap.
How Video Works?
First of all, imbedding a short video into your website(or into an email) is an excellent way to pull your website visitor into your message and start to develop a relationship for you, and your services. Most website prospects would much rather watch a video than read text on a page. And if you provide a niche as part of your accounting firm, videos are an excellent way to explain that particular service in a more engaging fashion.
To give you a sense of how popular videos are on the internet, YouTube is the fourth highest traffic website on the internet. And the number of searches conducted on YouTube is higher than Yahoo and Bing. That’s right, the amount of time that people spend online watching videos is extensive. For example, YouTube viewership of the Boston Marathon Bombing and Kevin Ware’s injury (Louisville Cardinals) in the NCAA college basketball tournament were off the charts. If you’ve been to YouTube recently, you know exactly what I mean.
Another great benefit of adding video to your website is that when done properly, video can improve your placement in Google, Bing and Yahoo. Some claim that imbedding a video into your website makes it 50 times more likely to appear on the first page of Google. The typical video for a specific accounting service should be limited to just 1-2 minutes. Once you establish yourself as a subject matter expert, prospects for your area of concentration will feel more comfortable picking up the phone to call your office as the ice has been broken by your video.
How to Learn More
If you’d like to learn more about video marketing, I strongly recommend reading Greg Jarboe’s book called YouTube and Video Marketing: An Hour a Day. Greg is an expert on YouTube marketing and the book is an easy read. The book is sold in paperback for less than $20.
