CPA Accounting for Social Media Influencers

Social media has become so big that accountants are now specializing and creating this as a stand alone niche. Below are three examples before I explain what this niche is about and why it might be worthy for you:

CPA Accountant for Influencers - Atlanta

CPA Accounting for Influencers - California

CPA Accountant for Influencers - NYC

What Is a Social Media Influencer?

An influencer is someone who has:

      • The power to influence purchase decisions
      • Has authority, knowledge and relationship with their audience
      • Has a following in a distinct niche category

The quantifiable components of being an influencer are:

        • Total number of followers
        • Engagement metrics (likes, comments, shares, etc.)
        • Brand status - What brands do they work with? Are these brands well known and respected?
        • Post frequency - How often do they work with a brand? Official brand ambassadors?
        • Partnership type - Depth of relationship? Collaborated on a line of products? Part of an advertising campaign?

The intangible factors are harder to measure but do matter:

          • Connection to the brand
          • Values of the influencer
          • Authenticity
          • Background of Influencers

Before we get into the categories and social media outlets/channels, the background of influencers is part of the equation as well, especially for certain categories.

          • Celebrities - While this segment is declining, celebrities were the original influencers in many categories and have the most impact on high-end brands (image oriented brands).
          • Industry experts
          • Professional advisors
          • Academics
          • Aournalists

          Industry Categories

The industry categories that may resonate with you and help you realize how big this market segment can be are:

          • Automotive - Richard Rawlings and Gabe Florido
          • Business - Tony Robbins and Brene Brown
          • Food - Salt Bae and Amaury Guichon
          • Health and Fitness - Michelle Lewin and Jen Selter
          • Travel - Murad Osmann and Chris Burkard
          • Types of Content

          Media Outlets

The outlets for getting their message out are:

          • YouTubers
          • Podcasters
          • Social Posts Only

This niche is in its infancy and has huge upside potential. It is global in scope and too complicated for the "end client" to comply with the taxation complexities locally and internationally.
