Often Overlooked Accounting Niche - Adult Entertainment
| |The adult entertainment is live and growing. And overlooked by accountants here in the United States.
To put things in perspective, the US adult entertainment industry generates more revenue than the combined revenues of ABC, NBC and CBS.
Here in the US, adult entertainment market is growing 7-8% per year. It is protected by freedom of speech so it is here to stay.
Subsidiaries of major corporations (News Corp DirecTV, Comcast) pull in attractive sums (dramatically more than Playboy and Hustler). And internet sales have exploded.
And the UK based OnlyFans has exploded globally. OnlyFans was launched in 2016 and 65%-70% sales are US based. Their growth is roughly 20% and content creators clear 80% of the subscription revenues (20% to OnlyFans). They are not advertising based.
By now, you've heard stories high school teachers giving up their day job to make big bucks online. Here are examples:
- Megan Gather - same high school caught on OnlyFans
- Arizona teacher - fired and now on OnlyFans
- Ohio teacher - fired and now on OnlyFans
While I understand the sensitivity and concerns, it is a viable way to acquire virtual clients who are earning attractive incomes and want to be compliant. The reality is that many of the OnlyFans models are making more money (after expenses and loans repaid) than most doctors and lawyers.
That said, here is an Adult Entertainment Accounting niche website:
